Monkton Park Scarecrow Trail

Fairytale and Myth characters are set to fill Monkton Park at annual scarecrow trail weekend

During the weekend of 11 and 12 May, people from Chippenham and the surrounding villages will descend on the Monkton Park Estate to enjoy the eleventh annual Scarecrow Trail organised by Friends of Monkton Park School (FOMPS).

The estate will be covered with princesses, knights, dragons and more, with scarecrows depicting characters from Fairytales & Myths.

People are encouraged to walk, cycle, run or scoot to follow the trail around Monkton Park and see how many scarecrows they can identify.

Trail sheets cost £3 and can be purchased from Monkton Park Primary School and The Tenth Hole Tea Room at Monkton Park Golf Course in Monkton Park during the weekend, between the hours of 10am to 5pm.

Throughout the weekend there will be plenty of refreshments (drinks, ice lollies, cakes, fruit) available at the school and along the route.

Stop by the school from lunchtime on Saturday 11 May and grab a burger, hotdog or a drink at the BBQ and bar being held in the school grounds. Prizes for the best scarecrow which will be decided by a public vote and for the most correct answers are available.

The team behind the event are hoping the sun will shine on this wonderful community event, to allow visitors to join in the Fairytale and Myth fun.
