Malmesbury League of Friends Donates £3,000 to Wiltshire Citizens Advice

Malmesbury League of Friends (MLOF) has donated £3,000 to Wiltshire Citizen’s Advice.

Wiltshire Citizens Advice is an independent charity that provides free, confidential advice, which includes vital work helping local residents with a wide range of problems, such as debt, welfare benefits, employment and housing. During the whole year 2021/22, it helped over 14,000 clients in Wiltshire alone.

The impact of the current cost of living crisis has put additional demands on it, borne out by the substantial increase in requests for help from those with urgent and serious financial difficulties.

Wiltshire Citizens Advice receives financial support from a number of organisations, but key funding from central and local government have been cut, at a time when its services are in ever greater demand.

Liz Stethridge, Head of Finance & Business Support at CAB Wiltshire said: “We are most grateful for this donation. We’re experiencing record-brekaing demand for our services as families grapple with the cost-lof-living crisis. Even with government support, we know it’s going to be an incredibly tough winter for many people.”

MLOF chairman David Hide said:” We are supporting Wiltshire Citizens Advice because we absolutely understand the importance of the work they undertake. Although Malmesbury and the surrounding area seem fairly prosperous, we know that there are many local families and individuals who badly need the advice it offers.”
