The Calne Lions Duck Race will be returning again this year, after a few years break. Our popular community event will be held on 13th May 2023 and, as it has in the past, will comprise a number of different races for everyone to enjoy.
Before the main event, which will see 3500 ducks racing down the River Marden, there is the Children’s Duck Race (for local schools, nurseries and youth organisations) & the Business Duck Race.
We are writing to you, as a local business or organisation, to offer you the chance to enter our Business Duck Race. Not only will entering a duck help Calne Lions raise money for us to help the local community, but it is also a brilliant way of advertising your business.
- • If this will be your first entry or you have entered a duck before (and still have your duck) then entry will be £25 (new entries will receive a duck free of charge)
- • If you need a replacement duck then entry will be £30
New and replacement ducks will be delivered to you in due course, for you to decorate (the more creative the better). We only have 2 rules – no motors and no remote controls.
The overall winner of the Business Duck Race (there may be a number of heats before the Business Duck Race final) will be presented with a Trophy & certificate; with additional certificates for 2nd & 3rd place winners. All other entries will receive a certificate of participation and there is a special prize awarded to the “Best Dressed Duck”.

Ducks need to be brought to the start line on the morning of the race by 10am, ready for sorting into heats and judging, then they need to be collected from the finish line (by Marden House) at the end of the final race. Calne Lions cannot store any ducks after the event.
