The care provider has launched the Wellbeing and
Exercise Challenge to promote heart health and improve mobility among
older residents and those with disabilities
Over 50 Wiltshire residents are preparing to take part in a year-long exercise challenge in aid of local and national charities.
Homecare provider, Right at Home Chippenham, has launched the 2025 Wellbeing & Exercise Challenge to help improve the physical and mental health of those it supports, while raising vital funds for worthy causes. This year-long initiative encourages safe, effective, and enjoyable ways to stay active while promoting independence and improving quality of life.
The initiative kicks off on 1 February to mark the start of Heart Month, with all funds raised throughout February going to the British Heart Foundation.
Jack Miller, Managing Director of Right at Home Chippenham, said: “The inspiration behind our challenge stems from our commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles within our team and the wider community. By taking part, we hope to inspire positive change, encourage individuals to embrace healthy habits, and shine a light on the crucial work being done by the British Heart Foundation and other charities close to our hearts.
“Through this challenge, we aim to strengthen our connections, foster a sense of unity, and demonstrate that even small steps can make a big difference in improving overall health and supporting causes that touch so many lives.”
Some 50 Right at Home clients living across Wiltshire have signed up for the challenge so far, including elderly residents and people with disabilities.
Jen Knight, 53, from Chippenham said: “I believe this challenge will enhance my mobility and lead to greater independence. Staying active in this way will also promote heart health and boost my energy levels. I can’t wait to get going.”
The Wellbeing & Exercise Challenge will feature a different exercise every month, starting with five to 10 minutes of indoor walking per day during February.
Throughout the rest of the year, Right at Home will set challenges such as arm strengthening, gentle step climbing and chair squats. The team will choose local charities to champion for this part of the challenge in the coming months.
Right at Home CareGivers will also take part in the exercises during their care calls, while ensuring the safety of their clients throughout the challenge.
Marilyn Kerrigan, 79, from Devizes said: “I’m eager to be on top form when it comes to fitness, and I believe the challenge will help me achieve this.
“I’m looking forward to connecting with lots of carers during the challenge and I’m pleased to hear that so many Right at Home clients like myself are taking part – it’s a wonderful way to build a sense of community.”
