Wessex Concert orchestra is returning to Malmesbury Abbey to perform a concert entitled ‘Courage and Honour’
This theme encompasses some stirring and thought-provoking music. Popular film music – Band of Brothers and Hymn to the Fallen, is contrasted with the thoughtful and beautiful Barber’s Adagio for Strings. But Sibelius’ Finlandia will prompt feelings of loyalty and pride . The second half will feature Borodin’s 2nd Symphony. Borodin not only a composer was also a chemist and one of 19th-century romantic composers known as “The Five”, , who were known for composing music with a definite Russian flavour.
